Shopify Store Analyzer
The Analyzer provides a one-time snapshot of public storefront information available during an on-demand analysis.
Data methodology
This page explains the shared definitions, observation process, and limitations behind Shop Monitor monitoring, analysis tools, and research reports.
Shop Monitor observes publicly accessible Shopify storefront signals. The first successful monitoring scan establishes a baseline. Later successful scans compare public observations with that baseline and subsequent observations, and detected differences can be recorded as changes.
Detection time represents when Shop Monitor observed a change. It does not necessarily represent the exact time when a merchant made the change.
Depending on public availability, Shop Monitor may observe:
Shop Monitor does not bypass login requirements or access controls. It does not access private APIs, Shopify Admin data, or other non-public store information.
When a storefront publicly exposes inventory or availability information, Shop Monitor may observe and display those public signals. Not every storefront makes this information public, and Shop Monitor does not access private inventory or Shopify Admin inventory data.
First successful observation baseline later successful observation comparison recorded change
Monitoring starts after a store is added and does not reconstruct historical changes from before setup. Failed or incomplete scans should not be interpreted as business changes. Recorded changes depend on successful public observations.
A newly observed product event is recorded when a product meets Shop Monitor's new-product detection criteria during a successful monitoring run.
A detected price change is based on qualifying successful public observations. The previous and current prices must both be available, non-zero, and different, and both observations must use the same known currency. A detected price change therefore does not represent every possible storefront pricing mutation.
The detection date is the date Shop Monitor recorded the qualifying difference, not necessarily the exact time the storefront price was changed.
A public price movement is an observed signal. It does not indicate the merchant's pricing intent, commercial objective, or internal decision process.
Catalog activity describes observed changes in publicly visible product collections, assortment, or catalog structure. These observations can provide context about storefront activity, but they do not reveal merchant strategy or private inventory.
Shop Monitor uses only publicly available Instagram information where available. It does not access private Instagram analytics, private posts, messages, or restricted account information.
Public Instagram activity may be reviewed near storefront changes to provide additional context. A temporal relationship between a post and a storefront change does not prove that one caused the other.
The Analyzer provides a one-time snapshot of public storefront information available during an on-demand analysis.
Monitoring establishes a baseline and provides historical tracking from later successful observations after the store is added.
Shop Monitor does not provide or access:
Public storefront observations should not be used to infer private business performance, merchant intent, or information that is not publicly available.
